Step 1: Cancel your recurring donation in PayPal

Option A: Cancel on a computer (recommended)

  1. Log in to PayPal.

  2. Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top-right.

  3. Click Payments.

  4. Under “Automatic payments,” click Manage automatic payments.

  5. You’ll see a list of merchants. Click the one connected to your recurring donation (it may show as the organization name or PayPal giving/merchant name).

  6. Click Cancel (or Cancel automatic payments).

  7. Confirm the cancellation.

Tip: If you don’t see it right away, look for words like “Automatic Payments,” “Preapproved Payments,” “Subscriptions,” or “Billing Agreements.”

Option B: Cancel in the PayPal mobile app

  1. Open the PayPal app and log in.

  2. Tap your profile icon (top-right).

  3. Tap Payments (or Automatic payments / Subscriptions, depending on your version).

  4. Select the recurring donation/merchant.

  5. Tap Cancel and confirm.

Option C: You can’t find it?

If you can’t locate the recurring payment:

  1. In PayPal, go to Activity.

  2. Find a past donation transaction.

  3. Open it and look for “Manage” or “View merchant” or “Related subscription.”

  4. From there, look for the option to cancel.

Once canceled, your recurring PayPal donation will stop going forward (it won’t affect donations already made).

Step 2: Create your new account in Tithe.ly

If you’re giving from a computer

  1. Go to the Christian Mission Tithe.ly giving page (from our website’s Donate button in upper right hand corner of every page).

  2. Enter your donation amount.

  3. Choose the fund.

  4. Select One-time or select one of the other Recurring options (weekly, bi-weekly, 1st & 15th, monthly).

  5. Enter your Contact Details.

  6. Choose your payment method:

    • Bank account (ACH) (RECOMMENDED; see Transaction Fee Chart)

    • Debit/Credit

  7. Click Yes or No to cover fees.

  8. Add Memo (if desired for your records).

  9. When prompted, click Create Account (or Sign Up).

  10. Enter:

    • Your name

    • Email

    • Create a password

  11. Complete the gift and you’re all set.

  12. Download the Tithe.ly App for ease of managing your account from your phone.

Transaction Fees

‍ACH / Bank account transactions: 1% + 0.30 per transaction.
Example: $100 donation --> $98.70 deposited.

Credit / debit card transactions: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
Example: $100 donation --> $96.80 deposited.

‍American Express transactions: 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction.
Example: $100 donation --> $96.20 deposited.
